In Pidgin English, to "walkabaot" means to travel or wander. Vanuatu Aelan Walkabaot is a non-commercial travel resource for the outer islands with real information and advice about accommodation, transport, places of interest and activities. Our aim is to promote low impact tourism that will contribute in a positive way to the lives of rural people in Vanuatu and to encourage sound natural resource stewardship.

Travel the islands of Vanuatu

NEWS AND BITS:
We are continuing to migrate to a new page layout, it's simpler yet more informative. TAFEA, SHEFA, MALAMPA and PENAMA provinces have been done.

Epi was updated in May 2009.

Pandanus Guesthouse on Malo is one of the best places to stay in SANMA province.

Sometimes we have something to say and no good place to post it. Vanuatu Aelan Walkabaot now has a blog where we can post helpful articles, anecdotes and opinions.

Ambrym was updated in April 2009 with new information on walking around the island, volcano trekking secrets and several new bungalows and guesthouses.

Enjoy our Protected Areas Showcase.

Great Gaua

Garet volcano, Gaua, Vanuatu

From one bungalow to six today, Gaua now has more and better accommodation choices. We've updated our pages in June '09.

If you're going to Santo, Gaua is easy and inexpensive to visit. The volcano, lake and waterfall are amazing.

Adventurous tourists travel north to the Banks Islands and Gaua is definitely worth seeing.
