In december 2013 we spend five nights at Terter Hotspring Guesthouse. The place is very welcoming. The bungalows are clean and cosy, the hosts (Sandy, Freddy, Daniel & Helen) are really nice. You can walk in 1 minute to the beach, where you can enjoy a natural hotspring at low tide. Freddy can take you up the volcano and he makes beautiful (& affordable!) wooden carvings. Helen will cook you a nice lunch or dinner. We would definitely recommend this relaxing place!

Fredy is a really great guide, which made it possible to see the beautiful lava lake at Mt. Marum. We had there 3 wunderful days on Ambrym and enjoyed the warm welcome at Terter Hot Springs, the relaxed atmosphere and tasty cuisine. We wish him a lot of satisfied tourists. The only improvment, which should be made is a online booking possibility on Ambrym. In this case we were helped by The Travellers Budget Motel in Port Vila, which is a great base for starting and organizing a trip to Vanuatu. We strongly recommend to contact them for help if anything cannot be organized online. Rudi and Vera , Austria

... incredibly well worth it to stand above a lava lake watching it boil and erupt. Freddy also organised a trip with the local fisherman - we caught Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi and Shark. He showed us his garden in the jungle and gave a great introduction to the fruits, shoots, roots and food plants of Ambrym. Helen cooks up wonderful meals - the dishes are plentiful and variable. We were made to feel welcome by everyone in the village and had a great time playing with the kids and talking with the adults.
Snorkelling was very good - up to 11 turtles on a single run. Also came across reef sharks, big grouper, red emperor, trevally, Queenfish and all of the reef fish and corals that you'd expect in the SW Pacific.
The 3 young bungalows are clean, airy, well kept and we didn't see a rat or a cockroach. The surrounds and village are spotless - people take a real pride in clean living here.
A very nice location, bungalows managed with love and pride, t

Terter Bungalow is the place to really get away from the western world and experience an authentic Vanuatu community on the Black Island. Would recommend it to any traveller who wants to exchange the mod-cons for the experience and reality of island living, in an environment that is truly remarkable.
Spent 1 week at Terter and it was thoroughly fantastic! Superb location, cooled by the sea breeze and right on the beach for hot-pools, beachcombing and prime snorkelling. The adjacent village Malver gives real contact with the local community, and being just 15 mins walk from Craig Cove makes it on the hub of West Ambyrm, but away from the main (small) town.
Freddy is a great host and guided us to the volcano with an hour truck ride to the south of the island. We went up Marum in 5.5 hours + 2 back to base camp. Came down from base camp in 3 the next day. Only regret was not planning to stay on the summit at night to get more time with the lava lake.

We spent two nights at Terter Bungalows, and they were a pleasure to stay at. Freddy and Helen are great hosts and lovely people. Melvert Village is full of friendly locals, Freddy took us for a walk around the village and we made kava. The hot pools are just 2 minutes walk from the bungalow and they were perfect to relax in. The snorkeling is top notch, some of the clearest water I have seen in Vanuatu. Food was 3 big meals a day, and the quality of food was exceptional, we had chicken both nights. I will definitely go back to Terter next time I'm in Ambrym.
