Bungalow, Narovorovo, Maewo Island
Visitor Ratings
Narovorovo
is a pleasant village in central Maewo. The walk across
the island here is relatively easy (less than 2 hours) and
passes a kastom rain pool and a kastom turtle stone. Narovorovo
is also an endpoint on the Naviso loop (see our Walking
Maewo page). Near Nasawa village is the Moon Cave, accessible
by boat or canoe only. This saltwater filled cave has a
moon shape in the ceiling.

Pelsa is a modern bungalow with a palm thatch roof. It has
two bedrooms: one double and one twin (two singles). The
windows are screened expect the bathroom. Closing the bathroom
door keeps the mosquitoes out. Mosquito coils are available.
The bungalow is wired but there was no electricity source
in February 2005. Hurricane lamps are used for lighting.
The main bungalow door is lockable.
The
bungalow has a self-contained bathroom with a modern western
toilet and shower. Bath towels, toilet paper and soap are
provided.
If Naomi
is cooking you can expect decent western style meals using
local ingedients. If you're cooking for yourself the bungalow's
kitchen has a gas cook top and a selection of pots, pans,
plates, cups and utensils. The water supply at Narovorovo
comes from a clean source in the hills and is OK to drink.
