Toa Guesthouse, Ndui Ndui, Ambae Visitor Ratings

West Ambae panorama, Vanuatu

Centrally located, Toa Guesthouse is a good base for exploring West Ambae. From Ndui Ndui you might take a beach camping trip to Devil's Rock or climb up to the crater lakes on top of Ambae.

Costs and Booking
Toa Guesthouse charges 1500 Vatu per person per night, payable in Vatu cash. Breakfast and other meals can be provided on request. You can call Toa Guesthouse on 38405. Pastor Jeffrey was looking after the place in late 2004 and he's very helpful. Jeffrey speaks Bislama and English. Exchange rates.

Accommodation and Food
In November 2004 Toa had one guesthouse, one garden bungalow and one or two more garden bungalows under construction. The guesthouse is a modern construction with two single beds and one twin bunk bed inside. It has fly screens and locking doors. West Ambae is a dry place so there are few mosquitos. The garden bungalow is smaller and more private, constructed of local materials with two single beds inside. The main building (reception) has a single bedroom, a lounge and a kitchen with a gas stove. Toa guesthouse has a solar power system for lighting (no inverter). A generator is used infrequently.

There's one modern shower and one western flush toilet. Water is pumped from a rainwater tank to an elevated tank.

There are a couple of local restaurants and a small market place near Toa Guesthouse. They most often have bread and sometimes rice dishes and/or aelan kaekae. Guests can use the kitchen at Toa Guesthouse. Jeffrey will offer to prepare meals. A separate rainwater tank is used for drinking water.
