John’s treehouse is the first place on the right when approaching Loanengo. Look carefully for the sign by the road. It does not stand out but you can see the tree house.

We stayed at the Banyan Castle for 3 nights - an unforgettable experience. Sleeping in the treehouse is amazing, peaceful and very beautiful. You can lie in bed listening to the "music of the volcano", (as John describes it) watching the curtains swing when the pressure wave reaches you. It is the closest bungalow to the volcano and from the dining room you can watch Mt Yasur erupting, a stunning sight particularly at night. Linda made us delicious dinners (700 vatu) including juice from passionfruit picked fresh from the garden. Conditions are basic but they have good water, a separate hut with a shower room and toilet, and generator at night, useful for charging phones/camera batteries etc. The garden is gorgeous with vanilla pods, stunning flowers, and trees. John was a fabulous host who showed us thecommunity, organised tours and transport when we wanted it, and kept us safe at the summit of Mt Yasur. He even lit a fire on a lava bomb which landed nearby! Highly recommended. We'll be back.
