I stayed at Rocky Island for 5 nights. I was travelling on my own, and I couldn't have been better looked after. The bungalows are basic, but most importantly clean. The price included breakfast. The location is beautiful, next to the ocean, and the village is only 5 mins away.
Can't recommend Rocky Island enough.

Our bungalow was very clean and neat with a new mosquito net. We were very impressed with the food provided to us. Tanna coffee and toast each morning, lunches an omelette, and dinner we were lucky to have lobster the first night (if they have caught one), chicken the next and fish the final night. I was very impressed at their attempt for a variety of meals. There are small toilet and shower huts which are kept clean.
They usually have a generator for electricity, but it was taken out during cyclone season, so do not expect to have electricity, but early nights mean early morning starts to make the most of your day. Take some torches!
For the volcano, we went 2 nights, take an umbrella, jackets as you do not know what weather you may get. Its worth staying a few nights in case the weather is bad. We talked to others who stayed on the other side of the island at Whitegrass resort and they were twice unsuccessful at getting to the volcano because of washed out roads. Also its 30 minutes. |

Incredible experience there!
I strongly recommend the place : amazing beach, tranquility and comfort.
People of the village are amazingly nice and we shared memorable moments with them.
Cook was very good, fish and lobster excellent!
Activities (volcano, John From, Shark Bay, Kastom Dance...) are worth it!
