My stay at White Beach Bungalows was nowhere near long enough!! We were after a chance to experience the culture and life of Vanuatu and this provided it 120%. It felt like we were part of the family. Annie and Henry are fantastic, they organised everything for us. Annie's cousin Joseph took us on a Kava Bar tour where we met a few locals. We were taken to the massive Bunyan Tree, up to Mt Yasur and to the markets. It felt like a home stay which was excellent as it meant we were able to meet people, experience the life and get millions of smiles. The accommodation at White Beach was just perfect, no fuss bungalows with beautifully thatched walls and roof. The outdoor bathroom was great, outdoor restaurant on the beach was such a beautiful building. For accommodation I recommend contacting Annie on her cellphone(678)5431747. If you book with Annie you get a better deal as she is the one who is their at the Bungalows looking after you. I wouldn't recommend booking through Erick ...

Stayed in early Feb 2009, we got there and were told meal prices 750/1000/1500vt for breakfast/lunch/dinner and 4000vt for a double room with shared facilities (5000 for "ensuite"). We were disappointed with the food cost and asked for a better price as when you do the sums it adds up to a whopping 10,500 a day for 2 people $140 aussie dollars to rough it pretty well. We mentioned our horror at the prices and they came back with 1000/1000/3000 for 2 people. We ended up skipping meals. Our host Veronique was helpful, the meals ranged from really great to average. Being near the coffee plantation is kinda interesting but there is not much else close by to explore - Lenakel is around 40 mins walk, the snorkeling is pretty good. It is a relaxing place but again these guys need a reality check.

Stayed for 3 nights but wished it was for 3 weeks. Tanna has that much to offer if you are into the outdoors and like geology.
For accommodation contact Annie Tapis (or Henry) on her cellphone(678)5431747 (everyone has a cellphone in Vanuatu even though they do not know how much it is costing them). Book through Annie if possible as you will get a better deal and a great friendly smile rather than the accommodation agent Erick Saman (shown on the website) who adds his cut on and does does not smile like everyone else. The White Beach Bungalows are in a great location within walking distance to the main town Loukatoi (which has a great food market). The Tanna Coffee Market is a stone throw away and worth seeing (open Mondays and Fridays). Tours to Mt Yasur a must see.

Spent one night on recommendation from Lonely Planet. Very disappointed in standard of rooms for the money - dirty. Evening meal was non existent. Overpriced transfer across the island.

Stayed 4 nights bungalows ok some repairs will need to be made they are building more though particularly inner lining walls.
Ley, Annie and Lucy looked after us well especially our son.
Transfer was on island time we waited more than an hour after plane landed for truck to turn up so our 4 year old was very tired. We were the only people left at the airport apparently the taxi had a better paying job first … some Koreans.
Tour to Yakel village was good experience although it appeared the operator was getting more of a cut of money than the custom people. I felt that I wouldn't have minded the expense if I knew the money was going to the custom mothers to feed their children especialy as some kids showing signs of malnutrition.
Food at restaurant was ok.
