Kurt and I stayed at Paradise Bungalows over Christmas in 2014 and it was amazing. The warmth of the hospitality the food the scenery and the activities were all great. It was very private and quiet and we enjoyed swimming and snorkelling as well as exploring the islands. On Christmas Day there is an amazing afternoon of cultural dancing which is well worth seeing. Loved every minute of it thanks Young, Anna and Minnie.

We just stayed at Paradise Bungalows in April 2014. They provide fine, comfortable bungalows, neat grounds and tidy surfside dining- all with delicious food. They have an over-the-water cabana for dining and relaxing, watching the stars with the waves softly lapping under your feet. Young and Rachel are excellent hosts; curious, gentle and helpful. The bath house was a real treat with it's clean flush toilets! and spacious shower. Visit the outer islands for a real treat and adventure, but do tread lightly. Bring your best self and you will make friends for life.

... CONTINUED from below - from the Valua Airport to meet a boat which would then take us on a journey of 1 hour to Rah Island - well we were fortunate, a 4WD was at the airport to collect us. The road (14km)had recenlty been graded by machinery and the villages had been allocated 1km each to scrub cut along the side of the road. We understand that a new truck is soon to be purchased and as with so many things in Vanuatu - the ownership might be with one family or person but the benefits spread across the entire community. So having a reliable running vehicle for this area is essential and a real asset. We have set up a FACEBOOK page for RAH ISLAND PARADISE BUNGALOWS please like the page to help promote this establishment.

While visiting Vanuatu for our 4th time (this time a combined business and holiday trip) we decided to head as far north as we could and enjoy some R&R. Hubby and I were not disappointed. We have (as a family of 4) stayed at a quite a few bungalows around Vanuatu. We know what to expect (or not to, as is the case usually), and we enjoy the simplicity of making do with the basics. I'd have to agree with the other reviews on this bungalow - great hospitality - Young and Rachael and their helpers whilst we were there - Lolene & Regina & Sammy were all delightful - taking us on walks, accompanying me across to Mota Lava to attend a church service at the revival church. Rachael's cooking was superb, we ate like royalty. I have to admit to having eaten far far too much whilst staying - and had to remind Rachael that I didn't need to have such large portions served. We had been warned that there are very few vehicles on Mota Lava, so it would more than likely be necessary to walk 45 minutes

I stayed with the delightful hosts Young & Rachel for 7 nights, in April 2013. With no cars, no power (although solar is available for charging)& with limited access to the outside World, it is time to kick back, unwind & relax. I like long distance sea swimming, so having a white sandy beach 10 metres from my bungalow door, was ideal. The bungalows are basic in the traditional island style, but clean, with new fresh sheets & tidied daily. With all meals included for only 4,000 VT, it is real value for money. I was entertained while there, by watching the Men's Snake Dance & later the Women's Dance, drinking kava with the locals, walking around the beautiful lush island, visiting the stunning easily assessible Island of Moto Lava. We spent the first week of 2013 at Paradise Bungalows and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. What a great start to the new year! A truly stunning setting with delicious food and excellent service. The beach was swept clean every morning and the bungalows decorated with fresh flowers.
Young helped us to organise a boat trip to Ureparapara and the Reef Islands, and one to Twin Waterfalls on Vanua Lava. We also climbed the rock on Ra, toured villages on Mota Lava and got to see a Snake Dance. We felt very welcome in the village and watching the sun set from a beach nakamal was a real highlight.

We stayed with Young & Rachel in July 2012. It was my husband's first bungalow experience He loved it, can't stop talking about it & can't wait to go back. We were sung onto the island after a spectacular boat trip from the airport where we saw flying fish. Amazing value for money; less than $35AU per night which includes accom & 3 fantastic meals! Lobster, coconut crab & fresh fish, just gorgeous. Friday night is cocktail nite; rum & coconut juice by the bonfire followed by the local string band. Take solar torches to leave behind. The band appreciates guitar & ukelele strings too. Can't wait to return, Ra is paradise! Jo & Tim

GREAT, WONDERFUL, AMAZING., The people, The food, everything! Our rooms were nice, flowers and clean sheets. Rachel brings forth fine meals. We climbed the Rock of Ra and heard Kustam stories with guide Michael and we snorkeled along the edge of the reef warm water with the incoming tide. Snake Dance is way way cool... Children’s day was fun and we hosted three legged races. Young has a tourist boat and on our next trip we shall include the reef islands tour. Try island Coconut Jam.. We have spent 12 days at Paradise Bungalow and we had great difficulty to leave. The host family Young, Rachel and Father Luke are superb and go out of the way to make guests more than comfortable. The food is great and get better the longer you stay. A trip to reef island is a trip of a life time, fishing at its best. The house reef on Rah is great for snorkeling and swimming is lovely in the protected lagoon. The water is so clear you need no mask to see the fish and the coral. By far the best on Rah Island is go walk around and meet the fantastic locals and talk storys. Dont miss to ask Father Luke about the various community suport and development program, you may sponsor a child's education for a year with your contribution spent on accomodation.

To stay in Harry Memorial Guesthouse is like to come home. Since my first stay a lot was changed, Luke has renovated the facilities and the restaurant (cyclone 2008). All is very clean, the beach is nice but direct in front of the Bungalows not deep enough to swim. Luke and his family know a lot of customs on the Banks. And the food is very good. I look forward to my next stay. Gerd

After six months of anthropology research in Vanuatu this is unmistakeably THE place to be, as we in Vanuatu all know! I didn't do much 'comparative' research which was the plan but ate a lot of krab kokonas instead and that's important too (and made some of the best friends in Vanuatu at nightly kava)! Go people, go, crazy beautiful Ra can really take on more than 20 visitors a year! Voila Father Luke, as promised... Ale tata, lukim yu nekis taem!

Father Luke and Rona are very beautiful people and so is their family, John and Leslyn and their 5 children. The whole village community are very generous people who are happy and wish to make your stay a lifetime experience. We were a party of 9 persons and I know I wish to return some day to share and live this unique cultural experience again. Rhonda July 2009
