I stayed in Tames guesthouse for 4 nights and was very satisfied with the standards. The number on the site no longer exist, so I showed up unannounced - despite that the family was ready to offer me an accommodation. So, if you are planning to stay in Tames, please note the changes, that the family has asked me to put online: Phone number for George, the owner is +678 539 5412 For Amy, the manager: +678 591 58 10 Also, the price has changed. It is now 2000 vatu per nigh, including all the meals. Enjoy your stay:)

I STAYED AT TAMES GUESTHOUSE FOR 5 NIGHTS,GEORGE IS A GREAT HOST AND VALUE FOR MONEY AT 1500 A NIGHT WITH 3 MEALS IS EXCELLENT PLUS GEORGE GUIDES YOU FOR 1000 A DAY.UNFORTUNETLEY YOU ARE UNABLE TO CLIMB THE VOLCANO AS AN ERUPTION IN NOV 2010 WRECK THE MONITER STATION.THIS WAS DISAPPOINTING CAUSE IT COULD COMPETE WITH YASUR BUT ITS A 3-3.5HR WALK TO THE LAKE AND I WOULD SAY ITS A MODERATE WALK.THEY NEED TO GET THIS VOLCANO OPEN AGAIN .THE WALK TO THE WATERFALL IS A LONG WAY ABOUT 3.4HR IT TOOK BUT WHAT A SPECTACUAL SITE,DUE TO THE WET WEATHER WE WERE UNABLE TO GET TO THE BASE.GAUA HAS ONLY 1 SMALL BEACH ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AWAY.I WOULD SAY 3 NIGHTS IS PLENTY IF YOU LIKE BUSH WALKING BUT IF THE VOLCANO IS OPEN 5 NIGHTS WOULD BE PERFECT.CALL IN AND STAY A FEW NIGHTS CAUSE GEORGE NEEDS THE CASH FLOW AS HE HAS 5 BEAUT KIDS IN HES CARE AND NO WIFE BUT HES SISTER HELPS HIM OUT.

Tames Guest House is in a handy location, backing onto the airport, with wonderful gardens, solid buildings & a western stye flush toilet.Price includes all meals which made this the best value for money of our entire trip. George is a wonderful host, speaking fluent english (and french?). Gaua has a lot to offer. The walk through the jungle to the lake (guided by George) was well worth the effort and the canoe trip provided great views of the steaming volcano. We wish we had a couple of extra days to explore the mudpools and waterfall. Txt George on(678)7712889
