About
Independent Travel
Independent
travel is adventurous and interesting. Independent travellers
have more time to travel, make their own itineraries and seek
genuine, non-commercial experiences. If there's something of interest
and somewhere to stay they just go. Getting there is half the
fun and often includes the most memorable experiences. Independent
travellers don't go with high expectations, can overlook a few
hardships and are not easily disappointed. Independent travellers
are often young, fit and well educated but older people can do
it too. The main requirements are good health and maturity. Many
young backpackers on their first trip overseas think they are
independent travellers but they just follow the guide books and
spend most of their time in the company of other backpackers.
Real independent travellers often travel alone, have different
objectives and decide on their travel plans day-by-day. More information
on travelling independently can be found on the Travel
Independent site.
The islands
of Vanuatu are relatively undeveloped and undiscovered and ideal
for do-it-yourself adventure travel. You'll find friendly people,
awesome natural attractions, a diversity of cultures and no crowds.
Travelling costs are not dirt cheap but manageable.
If independent
travel is not your thing then there are a couple of booking
agents in Vanuatu who can get you to the islands.
