About us

This is a project of Wantok Environment Centre, a local environmental non-government organization in Vanuatu. It is an initiative to promote Vanuatu as a birding destination (the website) and to record the distribution of Vanuatu's birds (the database). This website was started in December/January 2004/2005.

We have not engaged any consultants in the development of this project and there has been no funding to date. Vanuatu has less than 100 resident birds which makes the development relatively simple. We have adopted much of Birds Australia's volunteer bird surveying methodology (Barrett et al, 2003). About the database.
