Nabi Protected Area, Wiawi, Malekula
Nabi Protected Area (short for 'Nagha mo Pineia Protected Area') conserves the natural resources of more than 1000 hectares of lowland and hill forest and coastline on northwest Malekula. The diverse range of habitats in this conservation area include savannah, semi-deciduous forest and, at higher elevations, evergreen forest.

Tacconi (1995) essentially interviewed the locals and lists 39, but misses several, species of birds for the Nagha mo Pineia Protected Area. A revised list is presented below. Some obviously mis-identified species have been corrected, the list has been filtered to conform to Bregulla's (1992) reference tables and our observations, seabirds have been excluded. Our bird list for Wiawi is based on field observations and should be more complete and reliable.
