| This Goshawk is found in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Rennel Island in the Solomons, Vanuatu and New Caledonia (Marchant and Higgins, 1999). The subspecies vigilax occurs in New Caledonia and Vanuatu (Bregulla, 1992). Brown Goshawks are normally found in more open wooded habitats like forest edges, wooded grasslands and around secondary growth (Bregulla, 1992). Bregulla (1992) states the only definite records in Vanuatu are from Aneityum and there have been some possible sightings on Efate. We have recent records in our database from Tanna in August 2004 and Efate in September 2005. References. |
