| This Vanuatu endemic species is only found on Santo. It inhabits the understorey of the cloud forest on the highest peaks where it appears to occur at low population densities with a very localised distribution. No more than one pair has ever been seen and several observers have climbed the mountains and failed to find the species (BirdLife, 2007). IUCN Red List Category: VULNERABLE on the basis of an estimated very small population which is known from very few locations (BirdLife, 2007).
