| This bird has a wide range including the Lesser Sundas, New Guinea, Micronesia, Melanesia and northeast Australia (Bregulla, 1992). The race cyaneifrons is found on most islands in Vanuatu south of Gaua but is absent from Santo and Malekula (Bregulla, 1992). It’s a seed-eater and usually seen in small parties in grassland, copra plantations and other open areas. The clearing of forests and planting of introduced grasses has expanded the habitat and abundance of food available to this bird. References. |
