| This restricted range species is confined to Santo in Vanuatu and Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands (BirdLife, 2007). On Santo, it occurs in wet hill and montane forests, usually from about 500 m (S. Totterman, pers. obs.). It is difficult to spot in the dense undergrowth but has a noisy alarm call. IUCN Red List Category: NEAR THREATENED because it may be threatened by feral cats on Guadalcanal and possibly also on Santo (BirdLife, 2007). References. |
