| An alternative genus for this sandpiper is Actitis. It breeds across a wide range from northern and central Europe to northern Asia and Japan during April-July (Hayman et al, 1986). The non-breeding range is similarly wide, from Africa across to southeast Asia, Australia and the southwest Pacific. This wader is uncommon but regular and widespread in Vanuatu. It is usually seen singly in all wet habitats from ocean beaches to inland rivers. References. |
